DESTINATION INFORMATION
The Czech Republic is situated in central Europe, sharing frontiers with Germany, Poland, the Slovak Republic and Austria. One-quarter of the size of the British Isles, the republic is hilly and picturesque, with historic castles, romantic valleys and lakes.
It also has excellent facilities to 'take the waters' at one of the famous spas of Karlovy Vary (founded by the Bohemian King Charles more than 600 years ago, and famous for its 12 hot springs, excellent porcelain and medicinal liqueur). Also Mariánské Lázne (which has retained the charm of its greatest time of prosperity in the second half of the 19th century with over 40 medicinal springs, mineral springs and moors).
Tourism in the Czech Republic really dates from the 1989 Velvet Revolution. It has largely focused on Prague with its great museums, galleries, concerts and other attractions. Many day trips are possible from Prague, spa towns (mentioned above), and early settlements like Kutná Hora and castles like Karlatejn.
Although prices have risen over the past decade, the country still represents very good value for money.
Bohemia, to the west, is one of two main regions. Ceske Budejovice is an ancient royal town with the largest historical market square in Europe. It is also the home of the Budweiser brewery! The UNESCO listed renaissance town of Cesky Krumlov with its ancient centre, narrow cobbled streets, well preserved mediaeval houses, one of the biggest castles in the country as well as the Baroque theatre makes it a town to be visited. Tourists also go to the very beautiful region of south Bohemia and historic towns such as Olomouc, KromerĂz and Telc.

FIXTURES
In recent years, the Czech Republic has been the rising star of the European weekend break business. This demand has attracted very many sports to follow their fellow tourists' lead.
Football, hockey, lacrosse and rugby are widely available as the prime sports that UK sports people are attracted to. We are very careful in matching fixtures as, apart from football, none of the others are major sports. We have sent many teams here, very successfully, as our local fixture contacts are particularly professional

ACCOMMODATION
As Prague is one of the fastest rising tourist cities in Europe, there are many new hotels being built both within the city centre and outside. This greatly increases the customer's choice.
There is an excellent range from the very traditional to the modern chain at competitive prices. When deciding your budget, price can be dictated by location so always remember that whilst hotels on the outskirts of a city are invariably cheaper, the difference in price can be more than made up by the cost of transportation taking you to and from the city's main sights which are right in the middle of the city.
